In short: we use your photos only to make your try-on. Every photo you add, and the result we make from it, is deleted 7 days after the try-on, so download the ones you want to keep. We never sell your photos or use them to train AI.

Who we are

TryOnMyLook is responsible for the personal data described here (the "controller" under UK data protection law). Write to support@tryonmylook.com about anything on this page.

What we keep and why

  • Your selfie, to put the look on it. We delete it automatically 7 days after your try-on, and you can delete it sooner. Before you start, the photos you pick stay in this browser only, so a refresh doesn't lose them; the browser clears them after a day.
  • The result, so you can see it and download it. We delete it 7 days after your try-on too, so download it if you want to keep it. You can delete it sooner.
  • The look you picked. For a look from our library, nothing more. For a screenshot you upload, or an Instagram post you paste a link to, we keep that picture until 7 days after the last try-on of that look. We keep a written description of its makeup (the colours and where they go) for longer, because the same look is often tried again; it says nothing about you. From Instagram we fetch only the post's public picture and the artist's handle when you paste the link, and we show the handle to credit the artist.
  • A visitor cookie: a random code that lets this browser see its own try-ons. It lasts up to 400 days.
  • Your IP address, combined with the date into a one-way code that limits how many try-ons one internet connection can make a day. We store the code, not the address. The address also goes to Cloudflare's robot check when you start a try-on.
  • Usage statistics: which pages are opened and which steps of a try-on happen, counted with PostHog without cookies and without storing anything in your browser, so we can see what works. Your photos are never part of it.
  • If you join the waitlist: your email, to tell you once when more try-ons are ready. We delete the list after that email.
  • If you email us: your message, your address and our reply, to help you. We delete the conversation 365 days after it's resolved.

Who else sees it

These companies process data for us, only to run the service:

  • Cloudflare hosts the site, stores the photos, runs the robot check (Turnstile), and receives and sends our support email.
  • fal.ai runs the image model that puts the makeup on your selfie (Google's Nano Banana, or Meta's Muse as a backup). It receives your selfie and a written description of the look.
  • PostHog counts page views and try-on steps for us, without cookies.
  • OpenRouter, which passes our requests to Google's Gemini, checks that your selfie can be used and writes the description of the look. It receives your selfie and the picture of the look.

Some of them process data outside the UK, including in the United States.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your photos or your data.
  • We don't use your photos to train AI models.
  • We don't show your selfie or your results to anyone else. Only the browser that made them can open them.

Adults only

TryOnMyLook is for people aged 18 and over. Photos that look like a child's, or that contain nudity, are refused and deleted straight away.

Your rights

You can delete any try-on yourself with "Delete this try-on" on its page; that removes the selfie and the result at once. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it, by writing to support@tryonmylook.com. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

When this changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
