Makeup for work and interviews

Makeup for work, a job interview or a headshot has to look like you and last from the commute to the last meeting. Our two office looks keep it simple. No-Makeup Makeup is a skin tint, cream blush, brown mascara and a clear balm. Natural Makeup adds a soft taupe wash on the lid, a few brow strokes and a rose-tinted balm.

Neither look uses liner or shimmer, so there is little to smudge or crease by the afternoon. Try both on your selfie, one after the other, and keep the one you would wear for a full day at your desk.

Makeup tips for work

  • Keep a clear brow gel in your bag. Both office looks groom the brows with clear gel, and one brush-through after lunch puts them back in place.
  • Choose a tinted balm over lipstick. You can reapply it at your desk without a mirror.
  • Use concealer under the eyes and on spots only, and let a skin tint cover the rest with your skin texture still showing.
  • Keep mascara to one thin coat of brown, or brown on the top lashes only, so there is less to smudge under the eyes by evening.
  • If you spend the day on video calls, take your selfie at your desk in the same light and try the look on that photo.

Questions

No-makeup makeup or natural makeup for work?
No-Makeup Makeup if you want nobody to notice it. Natural Makeup if you want a little more definition, with a taupe wash on the lid and a few strokes in sparse brows.
What makeup suits a formal office?
Wear what you are comfortable in. Our office looks keep to a sheer base, a soft rose blush, brown mascara and a balm, which looks tidy in a meeting room without any shimmer or liner.
What should I wear for an evening event after work?
Try Soft Glam. It adds a medium-coverage satin base, warm bronzer, a blended brown eye and a thin brown liner with a short flick, and you can build it on top of your office base.
