Makeup for downturned eyes
On downturned eyes, the outer corners sit a little lower than the inner corners. Makeup that follows that slope, like liner along the outer lower lashes, pulls the eye further down. So lift everything at the outer edge. Angle the wing and the shadow up toward the tail of the brow, and keep the darkest colour on the upper lid, not the lower one.

- Start the wing from the upper lash line, just above the outer corner, instead of from the lowest point of the eye. Then angle it up toward the tail of the brow.
- Keep the line thin at the inner corner and thicken it on the outer third, so the thickest part sits under the upward angle.
- Leave dark liner and shadow off the outer half of the lower lash line, or keep them very soft and stop before the corner. A dark line under the outer corner follows the downward slope.
- Blend your deepest shadow on the outer corner of the upper lid and sweep it up and out, toward the end of the brow.
- Curl the lashes and put most of the mascara on the outer upper lashes. Go light on the outer lower lashes.
- Draw the brow tail so it ends level with the start of the brow or a little above it, never lower.
