1920s Makeup
Flapper style: a smoky, rounded charcoal eye with no wing, downward brow tails, round rosy cheeks and a deep berry lip with a pointed cupid's bow.
When to wear it
Wear it to a 1920s-themed party, a jazz night or New Year's Eve in a beaded dress. It is for you if you like a rounded smoky eye and a dark lip. The pictures show it on a woman in her mid 40s with deep-set eyes, on a round face and on deep skin.
Shades
- Eyessmoky charcoal
- Lidsilver shimmer
- Cheekround rose-pink
- Lipsdeep berry red
How it's done
A matte, softly powdered base and a rose-pink blush in a round patch on the apples of the cheeks. Brows defined with a dark brown pencil, the tails drawn slightly longer and sloping down. A smoky charcoal-grey shadow blended all around the eye in a rounded shape, darkest at the lash line and softening up to the crease, with no wing. Black kohl along the upper and lower lash lines, smudged, and black mascara. A touch of silver shimmer on the centre of the lid. Lips in a deep berry-red matte lipstick, the cupid's bow drawn into two rounded peaks and the colour kept just inside the corners of the mouth.
Questions
- How do I do the rounded 20s eye?
- Blend smoky charcoal-grey all around the eye in a round shape, deepest along the lashes and softening up to the crease, with no wing. Smudge black kohl along both lash lines and add a touch of silver shimmer to the centre of the lid.
- How do I draw the 1920s lip?
- Draw the cupid's bow as two small rounded peaks with a liner, then fill the lips with a deep berry-red matte lipstick. Stop the colour just inside the corners of the mouth, so the lips look smaller and rounder.
