80s Makeup

Big and bright: electric blue and purple lids up to the brow, blue liner under the eye, a hot-pink blush stripe and a frosted fuchsia lip.

When to wear it

Wear it to an 80s party, a roller disco or a costume night with big shoulders and big earrings. It is for you if you want colour at full strength, not toned down. The pictures show it on olive skin with almond-shaped hazel eyes, on monolid eyes and on tan skin.

Shades

  1. Lidelectric blue
  2. Creasebright purple
  3. Cheekhot-pink stripe
  4. Lipsfrosted fuchsia

How it's done

A matte base with a bold hot-pink blush swept in a strong stripe from the cheekbones up to the temples. Brows full and brushed straight up. An electric blue shadow on the lid, blended up into a bright purple across the crease and toward the brow bone, the colours kept bright, not toned down. A bright blue pencil along the lower lash line and in the lower waterline. A pink frosted shimmer on the brow bone. Black mascara on the upper and lower lashes. Lips in a frosted fuchsia lipstick, lined in a deeper pink.

Questions

How do I keep the blue and purple bright?
Prime the lid first, then press the electric blue on with a flat brush. Blend the bright purple above it only where the two colours meet, and keep brown out of the crease so nothing dulls them.
Where does the 80s blush go?
In a strong stripe of hot pink from the cheekbones up toward the temples. It is meant to show, so leave the edges defined. A frosted fuchsia lip lined in deeper pink goes with it.
