70s Makeup

Disco-era glow: bronzed skin, terracotta blush draped up to the temples, frosted gold-bronze lids, spiky lashes and a glossy caramel lip.

When to wear it

Wear it to a disco party, a summer wedding as a guest or a holiday evening when you want a bronzed glow. It is for you if you like frost and gloss more than matte. The pictures show it on deep skin, on tan skin with downturned brown eyes and on fair skin with hooded blue eyes.

How it's done

A light, glowing base with a warm bronzer across the cheeks, nose and forehead for a sun-kissed finish, and a terracotta blush draped from the cheekbones up to the temples. Brows brushed up and lightly defined. A frosted gold-bronze shimmer across the lid, blended up toward the brow bone, with a soft warm brown in the crease. A thin brown liner smudged at the lash line. Black mascara combed into separate, spiky lashes on the upper and lower lash lines. Lips in a glossy caramel-nude.

Questions

What is blush draping?
Sweeping blush from the cheekbones up to the temples in one band, instead of on the apples. This look drapes a terracotta blush over warm bronzer, so the cheeks and temples look warmed by the sun.
How do I get spiky 70s lashes?
Coat the upper and lower lashes in black mascara, then run a clean lash comb through them while it is still wet, so the lashes clump into separate spikes. Add a second coat to the tips only.
